What is a Miyadaiku?

New construction, restoration, and relocation of shrines and temples — built with traditional joinery to last beyond a century.

Komatsu Daiku-ten is a miyadaiku workshop based in Kanagawa, Japan. We build and restore shrines and temples, and also hand-craft small wooden objects for daily life — fishing rods, tea utensils, and the like — using the nearly-nail-less interlocking joinery passed down through the craft. This site is a catalog of the work we have shaped.
